Around Home – Outdoor Activities

There are so many ways to engage with STEM just outside your own home – especially in the garden or backyard. Or even taking a short drive in your car around your neighbourhood. Below are some activities to help you and your child explore ELSA’s STEM Practices and concepts.

In the garden

Playing in the garden or taking a trip to the park is a good way to interact with nature and to learn about STEM. Simply venturing into the backyard can provide great opportunities to play and learn.

In the car

You can use time spent driving in the car to try some STEM-based activities. There’s plenty of fun to be had, and it’s a great way of passing the time. You can talk about directions, where you are going and landmarks along the way.
