At Home – Indoor Activities
There are so many ways to engage with STEM in your own home while going about day-to-day life. After all, so much goes on in a family home – in the bathroom, the kitchen, the laundry and the play area. Below are some activities to help you and your child explore ELSA’s STEM Practices and concepts in different areas of your home.
In the bathroom
The bathroom provides opportunities to explore STEM Practices and concepts with everyday activities. We often do things like have a bath or shower, brush our teeth and wash our hands.
In the laundry
The laundry is where dirty clothes go to get clean, providing lots of opportunities for STEM activities and games. You can do things like sort the dirty washing, make piles of clean clothing for each person in the family and find pairs of socks to put away in the drawer.
Playing with toys
The bathroom provides opportunities to explore STEM Practices and concepts with everyday activities. We often do things like have a bath or shower, brush our teeth and wash our hands.
In the kitchen
The kitchen is a great place to explore STEM Practices and concepts with your child. Many activities happen in the kitchen, such as preparing food, cooking food, eating food, tidying up after meals, and putting the shopping away in the cupboard or fridge.
